Terms and Conditions 

1.0 Free Energy Upgrades as part of the Home Safety Package

Telus Electrical Services Pty Ltd is an accredited provider of the Victorian Government’s Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program. As an accredited provider, Telus Electrical Services Pty Ltd will provide members of its Home Safety Package with free upgrades and/or installation of certain energy efficient products where and when the below eligibility criteria are met. Telus Electrical Services Pty Ltd does not provide installation of all VEU approved products and reserves the right to determine which VEU products it provides for free.

Eligibility for VEU upgrades

For installation of LED lighting:

  • The property must have existing inefficient globes installed deemed as eligible for upgrade under the VEU program guidelines. This is limited to halogen, incandescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs of the B22, E22, B15 and E15 types.

  • The property owner or tenant must be present at the time of installation

  • The property must not have had an upgrade to LED light bulbs under the VEU program previously.

  • The property must be a domestic dwelling

  • Empty lighting sockets do not qualify (replacement service for inefficient lighting only)

For installation of a PowerPal energy monitor:

  • The property must not have an existing energy monitor anywhere on the premises

  • The property must contain a digital/smart electricity meter

  • The property owner or tenant must be present at the time of installation

  • The property must not have had an energy monitor installed under the VEU program previously

  • The property must be a domestic dwelling

  • The tenant must have a recent power bill available at the time of installation

For installation of exhaust fan weather seals:

  • The property must contain existing exhaust fan/s that are not already of the weather sealed type

  • The property owner or tenant must be present at the time of installation

  • The property must not have had exhaust fan weather seals installed under the VEU program previously

  • The property must be a domestic dwelling

 

2.0 Schedule of Services Provided to Members of the Home Safety Package

Enrolled members of the Telus Electrical Services Home Safety Package will receive the following services:

  1. Biennial electrical safety check

  2. Biennial gas safety check

  3. Annual smoke alarm safety check and maintenance

2.1 Electrical Safety Check Schedule

This schedule includes a biennial safety check performed by a fully-licensed Victorian A Grade Electrician. The schedule includes the following:

  • Electrical safety check of all accessible appliances including visual inspection, insulation resistance test, and earthing of metallic parts (where applicable). This service excludes all inaccessible appliances, solar installations and appliances provided by the tenant. Examples of eligible appliances include but may not be limited to: refrigerators, electric ovens, electric hot plates, electric range hoods and electric hot water units provided by the landlord.

  • Visual inspection of all accessible installations and fittings.

  • Comprehensive switchboard inspection and testing of final sub circuits. These tests include but are not necessarily limited to: insulation resistance test, main earth continuity test and switchboard enclosure protective earthing test.

  • Testing of all accessible socket outlets (power points) are checked for polarity (correct connection), RCD operation (safety switch operation), earthing connection, and fault loop impedance.

  • A detailed digital compliance report detailing all tests completed and any rectifications needed

Accessible in this schedule terms means that the fitting, appliance or installations is not located in a roof space, under the house, or located behind items that cannot be moved due to weight or risk of damage to the property. The electrical safety check service will not be provided for items that are not deemed accessible.

2.2 Gas Safety Check Schedule

This schedule includes a biennial safety check performed by a Victorian licensed or registered plumber with their Type A Gas Appliance Servicing license. This schedule includes the following:
 

  • A safety check and full service of all gas appliances. This includes a negative pressure test and carbon monoxide spillage test where required.  Examples of eligible appliances include but may not be limited to: cooktop, water heater, oven, solar hot water, wall furnace, ducted space heater, room space heater and hydronic heating.

  • A pressure test of the property’s main gas line.

  • A detailed digital compliance report detailing all tests completed and any rectifications needed.

 

2.3 Smoke Alarm Safety Check and Maintenance Schedule

This schedule includes an annual smoke alarm service as well as ongoing maintenance of smoke alarms. This schedule includes the following:
 

  • Annual maintenance of all smoke alarms including push button test, smoke test and cleaning.

  • Free replacement of faulty smoke alarms and any smoke alarm that is within 12 months of reaching its expiry date.

  • Assessment of the condition and location of all smoke alarms in relation to state and federal laws

  • A detailed digital compliance report detailing the condition, location and maintenance of smoke alarms. This includes geo-tagged photos to provide evidence as to where and when an inspection last took place.

3.0 Free Minor Repairs

If during an electrical safety check the electrician deems a fault to need only minor repairs, the electrician may rectify the fault while onsite at no extra cost. Minor repairs include up to two of the following:
 

  • Faulty socket outlet (power point) or light switch

  • Faulty Residual current device or circuit breaker

  • Spread of Fire Risk in Switchboard (where only fire sealant is required to rectify the fault)

  • A missing earth tag on the main earth electrode
